Moapa Valley Trails Study

The Moapa Valley is an oasis of green in a vast desert environment. The Muddy River winds through the valley surrounded by picturesque hills. The river provides the opportunity for irrigation and the valley supports an agricultural land use unique to the Mojave Desert.

This study will work to capture the opportunities afforded by this dynamic setting through the development of a trail network linking key destinations. Within Logandale and Overton, park sites, schools, museums, neighborhoods, the fairgrounds, commercial and business centers are all key destinations that could be well served by a trail network. In addition, regional linkages will be considered that include the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, as well as potential OHV access and connections.

Walkers and joggers are a common sight in the early morning hours in the valley as they move along roadway shoulders and irrigation canals. A well developed trail system will give the residents both recreational opportunities as well as an alternative transportation resource.
